Day 01 : Yangon – Kyaing Tong by flight

You will depart from Yangon by flight to Kyaing Tong, the largest town in Eastern Shan State was the capital of Golden Triangle and it is famous for its multi-ethnic population, blend of multi-cultures (Myanmar, China and Thailand) and scenic beauty.

Upon arrival, start visit Kyaing Tong with Maha Myat Muni Pagoda known as Wat Phra Sao Luang and enjoy a walk around scenic Naung Tong Lake.

Day 02 : Kyaing Tong – Pintauk – Kyaing Tong

After breakfast, visit the local colorful market in Kyaing Tong to observe the colorful hill tribes who sell, buy and trade their various products. It is a good chance to meet the tribes and to discover their ways of life and unique dress styles.

Then drive to the trekking point at Pin Tauk area by car (-45min) where you can discover the villages of Akha and Lahu tribes. On the way, visit Shan Traditional Rice Alcohol Production and Wan-Pauk, Palaung tribe village where you can discover their customs and tradition, unique language that is still used to communicate.

Upon arrival to trekking point, start hiking to explore the living ways of Akha village at the foot of the hill to observe their daily lifestyle and distinctive customs.

After picnic lunch, start again soft trekking to Ang tribe village. This tribe is known for its black teeth, its distinctive elongation of the ear lobes caused by wearing large earrings and their black dresses. They use their own language and Shan but no Burmese. Stroll around the village and interact with the locals. The region offers scenic panoramic view over the valley covered with terraced rice fields.

In the late afternoon, return to Kyaing Tong.

Day 03 : Kyaing Tong – Hokyin – Kyaing Tong

After Breakfast, visit Kyaing Tong’s local market that is a unique place to observe the minority colorful tribes surrounding the hills.

From there, drive to Hokyin (-1hr) which is house for about 400 Akha tribe and start trekking from Pam Kwai Hill to an Akha Village (-1 ½ hr) where you can admire the Akha tribes who are still wearing traditional costumes with silver coils. To dress their fully costume takes about one hour for typical Akha woman. After this, explore three nearby Akha villages to discover their ways of life and customs.

Continue to Mong Zine (Khun Village) to learn about the traditional Lahu knives made by blacksmith. Then, proceed to the place where the car is waiting to go back to Kyaing Tong. En route, stop at a Wa village to interact with active and smiling local people.

Day 04 : Kyaing Tong – Mandalay/Heho/Yangon by flight

Enjoy a morning visit to the rest part of Kyaing Tong city, such as lone-tree hillock, lacquer-ware workshop, standing Buddha Image, Wat-In ancient monastery well-known for its wooden Buddha Image, Dat-Saon-Kham pagoda, etc……, and then awaiting car will transfer you to the airport for the flight to Mandalay/Heho/Yangon.

  • Kyaing Tong flight is not operated daily. If there is no direct flight, the flight will stop at Tachileik.
